Roulette Chess Version 0.1

September 25th, 2012

Here’s a simple Android app I wrote that’s based on the Roulette Chess Wheel created by chess master Jennifer Shahade. This is basically a prototype for the back end, but it is fully functional. The next step is to create a graphical wheel to actually spin for the moves. After that, I’ll probably upload it to the Google Play store. However, it is totally playable in its current text-only form.

For now, to install the app, just click on the APK file below from your Android phone, let it download, open the file and it should install.

RouletteChess2.apk (158 KB)

How to play:

Setup a chess board.

For each move, click the “spin” button.

If you land on a slot with multiple pieces, you must move EITHER of those pieces on your turn. If you land on a slot with only one piece, then you must move that piece.

If it is not possible for you to move either piece, look at the color of the slot. If it’s your own color (red=white), you can move any one of your pieces that you wish. However, if it’s your opponent’s color, your OPPONENT picks which one of your pieces to move!

If you spin a green/finger/choose slot, you may move any one of your own pieces that you wish.

Try it out and let me know if there are any issues with it.

Have fun! :)
